Terms of service

These terms apply to merchants who install Mint Speak ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

The service

The app adds a voice button and theme days to your online store through a theme app embed. When a voice is on, the visible text of your English storefront pages is rewritten in the shopper's browser with rule-based word and phrase swaps, and restored exactly when the shopper goes back to normal. On the Pro plan you can also create AI voice versions of product descriptions, which you review and approve before they are saved to the product. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.

What stays unchanged, and your responsibility

The app is designed never to change prices, numbers, sizes, codes, links, e-mail addresses, form fields, cart line properties or the other meaning-carrying words listed in the app's help, and it never changes Shopify checkout, order emails, customer accounts or your product data. Voices are playful word swaps: you decide which voices and theme days to use and which words or parts of your pages to leave alone, and you are responsible for your store's content, including custom word swaps and AI descriptions you approve. Text inside images, videos and other apps' embedded frames isn't changed. The voices need JavaScript; shoppers who block scripts see your normal text.

Billing

Plans are managed on Shopify's plan page and billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial. You can cancel at any time by choosing the Free plan or uninstalling the app. A move from Pro to Free takes effect at the end of the billing cycle you already paid for. Charges are handled entirely by Shopify under Shopify's terms. The Pro plan includes a monthly number of AI descriptions, shown in the app; unused ones don't carry over.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the app available, accurate and secure, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.

Data processing addendum

The app is designed not to collect or store personal data of your customers: the voice is applied in the shopper's browser, their choice is kept in their own browser storage, and counts of voice use are anonymous daily totals. To the extent the app processes any personal data on your behalf, you are the controller and we are the processor, and we will:

  • process personal data only to provide the app's features, following your instructions given through the app's settings;
  • process only the minimum data needed, and never store customers' names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, IP addresses, orders or carts;
  • never sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models;
  • keep data confidential and limit access to authorised personnel;
  • encrypt data in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 encryption at rest);
  • use Cloudflare (hosting, database and Workers AI) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
  • delete all shop data after uninstall (shop redaction) and respond to Shopify's customer privacy requests;
  • help you respond to data subject requests and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.

Changes

We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
